Emlor started strongly and were 3-0 up at the end of the first chukka. Enigma, who had won their previous two games, found their stride In the second, scoring three goals with only one in reply from Emlor. With no goals in the third and only a goal apiece in the fourth, this was still anyone’s game. Enigma came right back into it in the fifth with goals from Juan Jauretche, Matias MacDonough and Juan Martin Nero. Nacho Gonzalez found one in reply and then some great play from his team-mates Mark Tomlinson and Jose Donoso, who was playing for an injured Luke Tomlinson, put them back into contention once more. Enigma’s patron Jerome Wirth scored an impressive goal to give his team a narrow, 8-7 advantage in the sixth and final chukka. The pressure was now on Emlor but Gonzalez remained calm when given the opportunity of a penalty, which he successfully converted. So with the scores level at the final whistle and the teams had 30secs left to play. This was the moment that Matias MacDonough saw his opportunity and drove the ball through the field to score the winning goal for Enigma. This team is now assured a place in the quarter-finals as they have won all of their league games.
Richard Mille 12 - 9 Piaget
Sadly for Stefano Marsaglia’s Piaget their game plan was disrupted in the fourth when Christian Laprida had a fall and had to retire from the match. There was then an extensive delay while a substitute was found. Thankfully Zacara’s Hilario Ulloa was watching the game and took to the field. His talent showed through when he scored for Piaget in the sixth and final chukka. However Richard Mille had been 5-4 up at half-time and just used the second half to extend their lead. This is their second win of the competition – their only defeat coming at the hands of Enigma who defeated them in extra time on the opening day of this tournament.
